Vesivek, Finland’s leading provider of external moisture control renovations, has been handling gutter renovations for over 40 years and roof repairs for almost 30 years. The company started roofing projects in 1993 and has since expanded across Finland and Sweden.

The company strives to diligently handle all aspects of its operations – environmental, social, and employer responsibilities. With over 500 vehicles in Finland and about 50 more in Sweden, it’s clear that a tool for efficient fleet management and tracking is essential for them.

Vesivek has been our client since 2017. We sat down with Janne Juppala, the company’s procurement director, to talk about their experience using Mapon fleet management solutions.

Growing partnership and deeper collaboration

Initially, Vesivek installed Mapon tracking devices on just a small part of the fleet, but over the years, they’ve steadily increased the number of vehicles connected to the platform. A part of their Swedish fleet now uses Mapon as well.

“After trying out Mapon solutions, we realised it was a perfect fit for our needs. We wanted a versatile service. Mapon responds to our needs very quickly, which I really appreciate. We’re happy with the service, which is why our partnership expands year after year,” explains Janne Juppala.

“Our goal is to use Mapon across the entire fleet in the future. It makes fleet management and tracking so much easier for us,” Janne adds.

Vesivek uses a wide range of Mapon solutions for fleet management, including digital logbooks, driver route history, and maintenance tools. Mapon devices are installed in field employees’ service vehicles, and sales representatives use digital logbooks to track their daily routes.

A fleet management tool for both management and drivers

The Mapon fleet management platform supports custom settings for different roles within the company. Regional managers at Vesivek oversee a large number of vehicles across wide areas, while unit managers in each of the company’s 15 locations can monitor their unit’s entire fleet. Drivers, on the other hand, only see information about their own vehicles.

Unit managers use Mapon daily to supervise operations. They can see real-time locations of their drivers on a map, reducing unnecessary phone calls and trips. Automatic alerts ensure that they don’t miss vehicle inspections and maintenance checks

“When you have a large fleet, having this kind of tool for fleet management is essential. We plan to utilise even more Mapon solutions for maintenance and inspections going forward,” Janne shares.

Each vehicle at Vesivek has a designated driver and they all are equipped with the Mapon GO fleet driver app. Employees can view routes and input any necessary information directly from their mobile devices, with data seamlessly available to management. The company also uses a weekly vehicle maintenance check system – drivers receive a reminder via mobile phones to inspect their vehicle and log its condition in the Mapon GO app. This helps prevent potential issues and ensures a safe, efficient, and well-maintained fleet.

Driving behaviour analysis improves safety and efficiency

Vesivek monitors driver performance because, naturally, they want employees to operate their vehicles as economically and safely as possible. Without a fleet management and tracking system, driving behaviour analysis would be quite challenging. Regular monitoring allows the company to address any issues as well as reward good driving habits. Mapon driving behaviour solution helps Vesivek make improvements.

“We want to encourage drivers to drive efficiently and safely, and to address any potential issues with driving habits. This is possible through regular monitoring. We reward our top-performing drivers based on Mapon’s driving behaviour analysis, and this has fostered a healthy sense of competition within the company,” Janne explains.

With the Mapon GO app, drivers can review their own driving performance and check their score. Most employees at Vesivek have embraced the monitoring, and the positive competition has led many of them to actively track and improve their driving.

Tachogram – effortless tachograph data management

Manually downloading driver card and tachograph data is time-consuming, especially for companies with large fleets. Moreover, the information needs to be stored for a specific period.

Vesivek currently operates almost 100 heavy trucks. The growing number of vehicles, changes in tachograph regulations and sanctions for non-compliance prompted Vesivek to start using Tachogram

Tachogram is Mapon’s solution for comprehensive tachograph data management, including remote tachograph download and analysis.

“We wanted a partner who could handle tachograph regulations reliably, easily, and securely. We felt that Mapon was the only right choice to ensure compliance with these rules. From our perspective, it makes things much easier since everything related to tachograph data is taken care of automatically,” Janne says.
