Providing accurate and clear fleet data to our clients is our main objective. However, making sure that it’s done securely is just as important. That’s why we’ve always taken information protection very seriously and have continuously implemented different security measures.

Recently, Mapon Latvia has received the ISO 27001 certification demonstrating that both client and internal company data is processed according to the best practices. ISO 27001 is an international standard that specifies requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining and continually improving an information security management system within an organisation. It also includes requirements for the assessment and treatment of information security risks. For us, this standard provides a way to reassess how we process information as well as reassure our clients that their data is handled with the appropriate care.

Mapon co-CEO Ingus Rūķis explains why we decided to undergo the ISO 27001 certification process: “We work with sensitive data and we understand how valuable the information is to our clients. That’s why protecting it has been one of our most important tasks since the very beginning. It involves being proactive – regularly looking for potential vulnerabilities and averting them, in case any are found. The ISO standard certainly helps with that because it provides a view from outside the organisation.”

He continues: ”Getting certified seemed like the next logical step to what we’ve achieved in the data security field so far.

It’s both a test of how well we’ve implemented best practices in our operations and an opportunity to showcase it to our clients and partners. It wasn’t easy or quick, however, the high attention to detail in the process seems worthwhile to us as it gives an added peace of mind for anyone using the platform.”

For now, the certificate applies only to Mapon Latvia, however, the same security measures are practised across all Mapon branches and offices and branch certification is planned in future.
